Learn to cook some Street Food Sichuan dishes, with Wontons, spicy Dan Dan Noodles and a fresh Smacked Cucumber Salad – perfect if you like your food with a bit of heat.
In this hands-on Chinese cooking class in Edinburgh, we’ll spend three hours making some of our favourite dishes from Sichuan, a region of China famous for its bold cooking and liberal use of chilli and Sichuan peppercorns.
You’ll learn to make Wontons, including preparing the filling and getting to grips with folding them, before moving on to Dan Dan Noodles with their rich, spicy sauce. We’ll also make Smacked Cucumber Salad – fresh, garlicky and the perfect contrast to the heat of the other dishes.
You’ll make everything on the menu, working in pairs, so you’ll get hands-on with every recipe. Along the way, you’ll learn more about the ingredients and techniques behind Sichuan cooking, and how to balance heat, spice and seasoning to make dishes you’ll want to cook again at home.
As with all classes at The Wee Kitchen, this is a relaxed, sociable cooking experience. There’ll be demonstrations and guidance along the way, plenty of time to cook, and we’ll sit down together at the end to enjoy everything we’ve made.
Come on your own, bring a friend or make a date night of it. No previous cooking experience is needed, and if you’re already a confident cook, there’s still plenty to get stuck into.
The class is BYOB, so bring along something you’d like to drink while you cook.
All classes take place at Cyrenians Flavour and Haver Cook School in Leith, check out our venue guide for transport, accessibility and more.

You don't have to bring anything. However, I recommend that you bring an apron, a tupperware for leftovers, and since it's BYOB - something to drink.
You’ll be working in pairs during the class. If you’re booking on your own, don’t worry - you’ll be paired up on the day.
